Channel Map

A channel map is a Input or Output channel of an Automation Device. When an automation device is created the channel maps for the device are built automatically.

Attributes

ChannelMap_Edit

  • Channel Number - The I/O channel number of the automation device to which the field instrument is connected.
  • Device Type - The type of instrument the channel is connected. This can be an Analog Device, Digital Device or Pulse Device. Due to some automation devices being able to support multiple types the type can be changed by clicking the unlock button.
  • Channel Mode - The mode the channel, this can be either Input or Output. Due to some automation devices being able to support multiple modes the mode can be changed by clicking the unlock button.
  • Channel Type - The type of the channel, this changes based on the device type of the channel.

    • 4-20 mA
    • 0-20 mA
    • 0-10 V
    • 1-5 V
  • Digital Device Channel Types
    • Out of Service
    • 24 Vdc
    • 120 Vac
    • Resistive
  • Pulse Device Channel Types
    • Out of Service
    • Magnetic Pickup
    • TTL Output
    • Preamp Output
  • Device - If the channel is connected to a field instrument select that field instrument here. The select box displays devices that are not already attached to a channel and also updates based on the device type to only display devices that match.

Channel Maps cannot be destroyed. If the parent AutomationDevice is set to inactive all channels will remain but will clear the field device information allowing them to be re-assigned to other automation device channels.
